Illuminating a whole new light in fabrics
Everest¡Vthe highest point on earth¡Vis a symbol of courage, determination and perseverance. In all its splendor, beauty, and power, the Everest not only offers an everlasting experience and a profound impact but presents a deep insight into mankind and life in general. And this is what Everest Textile is all about. It dares to dream the impossible and acts on it; it overcomes fears and obstacles, and fulfills what it believes. Making a difference in the lives of people as well as the environment is the greatest power and gift that Everest Textile can offer both to man and Mother Earth.
Everest Textile's passion for sustainability can be evidently seen not only in the highly innovative products they produce but in the impressive construction of its very own ecological industrial park within its nearly 50-acre plant in Tainan. Since global warming has become a crucial issue, this highly renowned green and sustainable Taiwanese enterprise embarked on a series of strategic actions to ¡§save energy, protect the environment, and love the earth.¡¨ It has also actively launched an ¡§Everest Sustainability Model¡¨ (ESM) ¡V a new approach to sustainable development ¡V in its three production plants in Taiwan, Shanghai, and Thailand. Through this model, Everest Textile has initiated effective measures such as the ¡§7 R's¡¨ for ecological protection. Beginning with a strict examination of its own internal and external standard procedures, Everest Textile is making tremendous adjustments on its manufacturing process, including improvements on heat recovery and water consumption in the dyeing process for more energy savings.
Everest Textile adheres to the sustainability principles of ¡§Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rethink, Redesign, Recover, and Repair¡¨ ¡V the 7 R's for a greener world ¡V and applies them in their daily life. Some initial adjustments have already been made including enhancing the use of clean recycled water to reduce wastewater, replacing disposable chopsticks and utensils with stainless flatware, turning off unused electricity, using fans and regulating the temperature of air-conditioners for energy consumption, among others. As a result of the joint efforts and outstanding teamwork of all employees, there have been tremendous savings on energy, water, fuel, raw materials, dyestuffs, chemicals, costs, and even time and manpower.
Over the years, Everest Textile's successful sustainability programs and its remarkable dedication in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility (CSR) have truly made them significantly unique and different from other fabric manufacturers. An ultimate innovator and promoter in every sense of the word, Everest Textile has set an ideal example in order to inspire others to follow.
From manufacturing to finishing process-it's all under one roof
Since Everest Textile has been founded in 1988, it has served to be the only vertically-integrated textile company in Taiwan that specializes in yarn spinning, twisting, weaving, dyeing, finishing, printing, coating and laminating treatment and processing. Besides producing filament and staple fabrics that combine both fashion and high technology, Everest Textile also specializes in the development of highly innovative products that can absolutely create value for its customers and partners.

With a strong workforce of over 3,000 people stationed in Taiwan, Shanghai, and Bangkok, Everest Textile has the capacity to produce over 74 million yards of fabrics each year. While its sales and marketing offices in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Tokyo, and Osaka serve the global markets, its five local offices in China cater mainly to the fast emerging Chinese market, thus allowing Everest Textile to reach its goal of ¡§global deployment with localized management.¡¨
To further enhance its innovativeness and design capability, Everest Textile has a wealth of highly educated, highly skilled R&D talents, of which 40% are Ph.D.'s. On the other hand, the Everest Technology Research Center (ETRC), a distinguished R&D center recognized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) of Taiwan, is constantly performing intensive research and development of superior performance raw materials using the most advanced technologies in order to quickly meet the increasing demand of eco-conscious consumers. The Everest Technology Research Center was granted the ¡§Outstanding Innovative Company¡¨ of Industrial Technology Advancement Award by MOEA, as well as the ¡§Outstanding R&D Results¡¨ in September of 2006.

Everest Textile's unfailing efforts over the years have paid off and reaped tremendous benefits and rewards for them. Besides gaining the trust and recognition from various associations and different government units, Everest Textile has successfully become the major textile supplier to some of the world's greatest outdoors, sports and leisure wear brands including Nike, Adidas, Puma, Patagonia, Spyder, The North Face, and Columbia.
bluesign® welcomes Everest Textile aboard
An official system partner of bluesign® since April of 2008, twenty-one product lines of Everest Textile successfully complied with the five principles of the bluesign® standard, which include Resource Productivity, Consumer Safety, Air Emission, Water Emission, and Occupational Health and Safety. As a demonstration of its strong determination to meet the highest environmental, health and safety requirements, Everest Textile applied for the bluesign®screening immediately after initiating its strategic action plan for ¡§energy saving and caring for the environment and the earth¡¨ through the launch of its own Everest Sustainability Model, or ESM, in 2007. It is hoped that the ESM would serve its purpose to encourage or motivate other business partners and the global communities to join in the mission to protect the environment.

Both Everest Textile and bluesign technologies ag complement each other in the pursuit of ecological sustainability. As Everest Textile commits itself to delivering more and more green products to the world today and in the years ahead, bluesign technologies ag will continue to extend its support to Everest Textile and serve as its best partner in accomplishing their objective.
ECO achievements
Everest Textile has been contributing to many eco-related public welfare activities, including adopting the Leaf-Walker Conservation Plan to help recover the pheasant-tail jacana, sponsoring the coastal cleanup activity held by the Society of Wilderness in 2008, promoting the use of recycled yarns, recycled polyesters from PE bottles and recycled fabrics, and promoting the concept of ¡§Cradle to Cradle¡¨ by William McDonough and Michael Braungart.
Greatly inspired by this ¡§cradle to cradle¡¨ concept, Everest Textile President Roger C. L. Yeh decided to ¡§turn wastes into gold¡¨ by converting the entire plant into a one-of-a-kind ecological industrial park. In the process, ecology experts from the Society of Wilderness have been invited to facilitate in the building of this park. A series of trainings and workshops have also been organized in the construction of an ecological area to attract fireflies, butterflies, and other related species. In addition to planting numerous trees and plants in the park, Everest Textile utilizes environmental construction materials, recycled plant effluents, solar energy streetlamps, and other ecologically related resources to build its ideal green park.
To promote Taiwan's sustainability development to the world, Mr. Rob Van Hattum, the Netherlands' director of the documentary film entitled ¡§Waste Equals Food,¡¨ was also invited to visit Everest Textile's ecological industrial park. Greatly impressed by the Everest Sustainability Model, Mr. Van Hattum gave Everest Textile his highest recommendation, and expressed his confidence that such positive attitude towards environmental protection will urge other textile makers both in Taiwan and the rest of the world to respond immediately to sustainable, environmentally-friendly production.
One company's dream of an ecological world in its own plant has become a reality. The success story of Everest Textile ¡V a true innovator and promoter of life ¡V will never cease to inspire and amaze those who hear it.
