Formosa Taffeta Co., Ltd.
For a better performance

A touch of taffeta in the Formosa family

From this small but dynamic island of Formosa in East Asia, a devoted textile maker renowned for its superior quality and service came into existence in order to produce fabrics not simply as a piece of material, but to make fabrics that have the highest quality performance with multifunctional features.

Formosa Taffeta ¡V literally translated as high-end fabrics from the beautiful island of Taiwan ¡V was brought into the Formosa family by the Formosa Chemical & Fiber Co., a subsidiary of the Formosa Plastics Group, and a select number of private investors in April of 1973 when the textile manufacturing industry and export trading businesses were in boom. Utilizing the most advanced machinery and with state-of-the-art facilities, serving as a vital link in the mid-stream industry with its weaving, dyeing, printing and finishing process, FTC has become widely recognized as a reliable supplier that is faithful to its promises of superior quality and efficiency. Because of its outstanding performance FTC became a public listed company in 1985, enabling ordinary citizens to become stockholders of the company.

As FTC's fame and popularity goes beyond the boundaries of its headquarters in Tou-liu, a traditional city in Yunlin County located in the mid-west of Taiwan, to other countries in other continents, FTC brought more members to its lineage by establishing the Formosa Textile (Zhong Shan) Co., Ltd. in China in December of 1992, and the Formosa Taffeta Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Vietnam in June of 1999 in order to meet the growing demands of its customers.

Over the years, the entire FTC family, both at home and abroad, has committed themselves to work unceasingly not only to maintain their reputation as a trusted and dependable fabric maker, but, more importantly, to boost or enhance the quality of life of every customer, product user, shareholder, and employee.

Uncompromisable quality and value

FTC understands full well that quality assurance is not confined within the walls of its factories and that raw materials also serve as an important yet critical factor in determining the quality of its products. In carefully selecting the best raw materials for its products, FTC holds no secret in letting the public know exactly where, how, and who its suppliers are because it is confident of the choices it makes.

FTC's strict policy of ¡§total quality control¡¨ even with its suppliers has enabled the company to achieve high levels of quality for many years, which can be proven by the different international quality standards it has obtained such as QCC, CWQC, QMU, ADR, IE, 5'S, ISO, and TPM. FTC's zeal and aim for the best quality can be reflected by the professional and highly proficient workforce that it has employed ¡V all of which are carefully screened and selected, ensuring that they all possess the required qualifications and experience necessary to perform their obligations and meet company standards.

Apart from offering efficient assistance to customers on quality issues, FTC also persists on improving its own manufacturing process and unfailingly upholds the rigorous standards it has set for itself in order to share the benefits and rewards it has reaped with its valuable customers, partners, and employees.

It's more than just fabrics

In order to meet the challenges and textile trends of the 21st century, FTC has been devoting itself to the extensive research and development of multifunctional, technical fabrics that provide outstanding performance. It sees to it that its fabrics adhere and possess the fundamental functions that guarantee comfort and fashion, impressibility, health and hygiene, safety and protection, and ecofriendliness, among others.

FTC's yarn products such as organic natural cotton yarn, bamboo fiber yarn, X-Static silver fiber yarn, germanium fiber yarn, and SeaCell yarn which had been researched and produced successfully since 2007, and its other outstanding line of products including BODYTEK®, SUN-ECO®, abletex®, Microfeel®, Hi-Sett®, M2PTEX®e, PERMADRY®, FORNEW®nano, UVoutex®, BLAZOUT®, Sansquito®, O'beauti®, to name just a few, all incorporate revolutionary features that the modern-day customer or consumer seeks in a product. Today, every product line of FTC represents nearly the entire textile products on the market, catering as well to the needs of many industries that require guaranteed functionality and superior quality standard.

Marking a milestone in Taiwan fabrics

A historic moment for FTC and a milestone in Taiwan's textile industry, the year 2001 marks not only the beginning of a close collaboration between FTC and Schoeller, an international multi-award winning company, but the emergence of FTC as the first textile producer in Asia to implement bluesign® technologies in its production facilities.

In November of 2001, an ideal match was made when Schoeller Textil AG, a world renowned innovative textile technology company founded in 1868, officially entered into a strategic joint venture with FTC whom Schoeller acknowledges as ¡§a strong partner that is deeply rooted in tradition and famous for its visionary, innovative strength and high quality.¡¨ Together, they created the Schoeller FTC (HK) Ltd. in Hong Kong, where they focused on the manufacturing and marketing of highly functional textiles for the Asian sport, sportswear and casual sectors.

On the same year in 2001, FTC was the first Asian fabric maker to apply the bluesign® standard as its production statute, and was also the first in Asia to receive the bluesign® Award for system partnership in March of 2008. Obtaining the bluesign® Award is a solid proof of FTC's uncompromising quality and value for manufacturing sustainability.
